IBC Code 2007 edition
On 17 June 1983, the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) adopted, by resolution MSC.4(48), the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code). Under the provisions of chapter VII of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS 74), as amended, chemical tankers constructed on or after 1 July 1986 must comply with the provisions of the Code.

Fire Safety Systems (FSS code)
The International Code for Fire Safety Systems (FSS Code) was adopted by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) at its seventy-third session (December 2000) by resolution MSC.98(73)in order to provide international standards for the fire safety systems and equipment required by chapter II-2 of the 1974 SOLAS Convention. The Code is made mandatory under SOLAS by amendments to the Convention adopted by the MSC at the same session (resolution MSC.99(73)).

SOLAS 2006
The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS), as amended, deals with various aspects of maritime safety and contains in part A of chapter VII the mandatory provisions governing the carriage of dangerous goods in packaged form or in solid form in bulk. Regulation VII/1.3 prohibits the carriage of dangerous goods except in accordance with the provisions of part A of chapter VII, which are amplified by the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.
